Supreme Court Judgement on APPSC Group 1 Mains : Re-condut Mains!

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the AP Public Service Commission to re-conduct the APPSC Group-I Mains of May 27, 2012, following errors in question papers.
The bench comprising Justices H.L. Gokhale and J. Chalameswar directed the commission to delete six erroneous questions from the question paper pertaining to the preliminary exam of Group-I and reconduct the test.
The APPSC had shortlisted 16,426 students for Mains. In September, it selected an additional 1,201 students, following protests from candidates who failed to make it due to “translation errors” from English to Telugu in the prelims question papers.
It conducted the Mains exams in October 2012. However, several candidates appealed to the SC that there were more errors and the APPSC should delete those questions and release the revised selection list.
SC: Delete defective questions
The apex court gave this order after hearing the petitions of APPSC, the state government and some of the selected candidates who wanted the court to suspend the order of the AP HC which found the way the selection was conducted defective in respect of four questions.
When the authorities wanted the HC order to be modified, J. Sudheer, counsel for the applicants, said that the government cannot go ahead with the defective questions.
The bench directed the APPSC to delete the six defective questions from the preliminary question paper and reconduct the exercise. After deleting the questions, the authorities have to finalise a fresh list of selected candidates.
APPSC chairman C.R. Biswal said that the commission is yet to receive the judgement copy and a decision will be taken after.
The questions which are to be deleted from APPSC Group 1 prelims are give below:
