Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor after incumbent D Subbarao retires in
September 2013

He will be the 23rd
Governor of RBI ( Subba Rao is 22nd RBI Governor)
Mr Rajan, a former International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chief
Economist has been appointed for a three-year period. He has a PhD from
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has done pioneering work in the areas of
banking, corporate finance, and economic development, especially the role
finance plays in it.
His Book: Fault
Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten the World Economy, won the
Financial Times Business Book of the Year award in 2010.
