APPSC to conduct Group 1 exam every year in the line of UPSC - good news!

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is set to go the UPSC way. Instead of conducting recruitments for various job positions in the state every three years, the commission, henceforth, would conduct tests every year just like the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

A high-level committee set up by the state government to look into the recruitment process of APPSC is most likely to come up with a final decision on the matter within the next couple of months. Officials of the commission had recommended a regular time-bound conduct of examinations for speeding up the recruitment process.

Secretary, APPSC, Poonam Malakondaiah said that that the commission has put forward the recommendations to reduce controversies regarding appointments. "Under the present circumstances, it is taking almost four years to complete the recruitment process. For instance, the interviews for Group-I posts, which were notified in 2008, are being conducted this year ," said Malakondaiah.
